Her Epic Response to "Make-Up Shaming" And What We Can Learn From It
Posted: Jun 12 2015 by Lookbook Store
With body positivism gaining hype in recent weeks, it's no longer a surprise to see related messages dominating the worlds of beauty and fashion.
In fact, campaigns have been organized to promote the love and acceptance of oneself, such as the Citilegs campaign and many others.
And while it's empowering women to accept their natural flaws instead of trying hard to look fake perfect, there are others who see body positivism in a different light. It's all up to you on how you're going to answer that.
But for one beauty vlogger, there's nothing to be ashamed if you want to look pretty. As Nikkie puts it, there is power in makeup.
In this interesting video, NikkieTutorials explains how makeup up can be a powerful tool as well as why she loves making herself look glamorous.

The video was only six minutes long, but it's interesting to note that not only was she able to put "make-up shaming" to shame but there are lots of things to learn from. I'm sure you have, so we'd like to share ours:
- Don't be ashamed to do what you love.
This applies not just to making ourselves pretty but also to doing things we love, even if you're the only member in the group. So if you love to travel, go ahead. Hate going to clubs and prefer to stay in on most weekends? Go ahead.
Just do what you love and you'll find yourself starting to feel happy about yourself.
- Just because society dictates us to do this or that, doesn't mean we have to.
While doctors will advise us to follow their prescribed treatment in order to be healed, it doesn't mean we have to do the same in other aspects of our lives.
We are unique. We are different. Just because some people are doing this and it makes them happy doesn't mean that it will have the same effect on us. So before you go on drinking all night or getting nose jobs because that's what you're friends are doing, think again.
- It's not a crime to beautify yourself.
When you look good, you feel  good. So don't ever feel guilty when you want to spend some time in front to the mirror just to make yourself look beautiful. As a matter of fact, not doing so will only do a disservice to yourself and to the people you love.
We are beautiful in our skin, so let that shine.

In a world where society loves to dictate what we should do, what we should look like or how we should live our lives, never forget that we our own agents. Let's live the kind of life that we should ought to live instead of being somebody we're not.
What about you? What do you think of the video? Would you agree that there's power in makeup, in making ourselves beautiful? Let us know what you think by leaving your comments below.
'Til next time.
